Adipurush is an upcoming most anticipated Indian Hindi movie. This is a Hindu mythological film based on the Hindu epic Ramayana. The “Ramayana” is one of the two important epics of Hinduism. The other one is “Mahabharata”. The Ramayana describes the life of “Rama”, legendary prince of Ayodhya in the kingdom of Kosala. It also narrates his 14 years exile to the forest with his younger brother “Lakhmana” and wife “Sita”.
Later it also narrates how “Ravana” the king of “Lanka” kidnaps Sita and took to “Lanka” and how “Rama” with the help of “Hanuman” goes to Lanka and saves Sita.

The movie “Adipurush” is based on the epic Ramayana and describes how 7,000 years ago, Ayodhya’s king Raghava travels to the island of Lanka with the help of Hanuman’s army with an aim to rescue his wife Janaki, who has been abducted by Lankesh, the demon king of Lanka.

Written and directed by Om Raut and produced by T-Series and Retrophiles, the film is shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu languages.

Adipurush Budget
Adipurush is budgeted at over ₹700 crore (US$88 million), making it the most expensive Indian film ever made. An amount of ₹350 crore (US$44 million) is estimated to be spent on visual effects.
As per a recent media report, Adipurush has recovered over 85% of it’s budget till 1st week of June’23 before it’s release. As per the report, the Om Raut directorial – based on the Hindu epic Ramayana, has managed to earn Rs 247 crore from non-theatrical revenues comprising of its satellite rights, music rights, digital rights, and other ancillary rights.
Along with this, the Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan co-starrer have raked in Rs 185 crore as a minimum guarantee from its theatrical revenue in the South. With these numbers taken into account, the upcoming T-Series film has already recovered Rs 432 crore.
As per the site, trade predictions claim that the business of Adipurush will see an exponential opening collection, and predictions indicate that it could see over Rs 100 crore coming in over its first three days (first weekend) – from the Hindi version alone. The film will release in more than 10000 thatres in India and 3000 overseas making a total of 13000 theatrical release worldwide.
Adipurush Release Date
The film is scheduled to be theatrically released on 16 June 2023. Most surprisingly, 1 seat in every theatres worldwide will be kept vacant or booked in respect to Lord Hanuman.
Speaking at the Adipurush pre release event, Om Raut became emotional and cried as he spoke about Lord Hanuman. He said, “My mother says that wherever Ramayan is being played, Hanuman will be present there. I am requesting Bhushan sir, Anil sir and all the producers to leave one seat vacant for Lord Hanuman. Everywhere in the world where Adipursh is being screened, I request to keep one seat. He [Hanuman] will come. Please sir.”
The film’s teaser was released on 2 October 2022 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, 108 Million views till 24.05.23.
The film’s trailer was released on 9 May 2023, 66 Million views till 24.05.23.
The total duration of the film is 174 minutes.
The music of the film is composed by Ajay-Atul. The first single titled “Jai Shri Ram” was released in its short version on 6 April 2023 on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti. The full song was released on 20 May 2023.
A new song from the film, Ram Siya Ram, was released on May 29 and one can easily say that the song is already a hit.
According to the latest media reports, Adipurush has also clocked in more than 150 crore in its box office collections even before its release. Reportedly, the Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan-led’s theatrical rights for the Telugu states, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have been sold at a whopping price.
According to a report in Filmibeat, “Adipurush’s two Telugu-speaking theatrical rights were sold for about Rs 170 Crore. This was a single-point deal, which will be officially announced shortly.”
Last year reports were abuzz that Adipurush had been acquired by Netflix for a staggering 250 crores. This included rights for all languages. Though no official communication has been shared till now.
The film will be a 3D movie.
Dubbed versions of the film will also be released in other regional languages such as Malayalam, Tamil and Kannada apart from various foreign languages.
Adipurush will also mark the 22nd film in Prabhas’ film career, and shall be the actor’s third collaboration with Bhushan Kumar after Saaho and Radhe Shyam.
The film was reportedly shot in 103 days.
Adipurush Actor Fees
Interestingly Prabhas was paid Rs.150 crore for his role as Raghava/Rama in Adipurush.
Saif Ali Khan was paid around Rs. 12 Crores for this project.
Kriti Sanon was paid around Rs. 3 Crores.
Sunny Singh, who will be seen as Lakshman was paid around Rs 1.5 crores, and Sonal Chauhan, who also has an important role in the film, was paid around Rs 50 lakhs.
Adipurush Review
With an overall rating of 4.2 out of 5, Adipurush is doing well at the box office. After its advance bookings opened on Sunday, the film did a business of Rs 12 crore. The national theatre chain PVR sold over one lakh tickets in the Hindi market itself and trade analysts are expecting a huge opening at the ticket counters across the country.
