Asia Cup 2023: The Asia Cup 2023 is the upcoming16th edition of the Asia Cup. The matches to be played as One Day Internationals (ODIs). In 2023, the Asia Cup will be hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka jointly. In total, 6 teams will be participating in this series of Asia Cup 2023. It is scheduled to be held from 30 August – 17 September 2023.
Asia Cup 2022
Sri Lanka are the defending champions. The 2022 Asia Cup was held from 27th August-11 September 2022. It was hosted by the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Sri Lanka beat Pakistan to win the Asia Cup 2022, the 6th times.
Asia Cup 2023
It will be the first Asia Cup to be co-hosted by multiple countries; four matches will be played in Pakistan, and the remaining nine matches will be played in Sri Lanka.
The five full members of the Asian Cricket Council will take part in the tournament.

Another new member “Nepal” will be participating for the first time in the Asia Cup. Nepal qualified after winning the the 2023 ACC Men’s Premier Cup (The 2023 ACC Men’s Premier Cup was a cricket tournament which took place in April and May 2023. It was the inaugural edition of the ACC Men’s Premier Cup, and it served as the final stage of qualification for the 2023 Asia Cup tournament). It was held in Nepal.
Format of Asia Cup 2023
The groups and format of the tournament were announced on 9th January 2023, with the six teams split into two groups of three. A total of 13 matches will be played, which includes six league matches, six Super 4 matches, and a final. India, Pakistan and Nepal, champions of the qualifier event (2023 ACC Men’s Premier Cup), have been placed in Group A, while the defending champions Sri Lanka are grouped with Bangladesh and Afghanistan in Group B. The top two teams from each of the groups will progress to the Super 4. From there, the top two teams will play each other in the final.

In total the 6 teams will play 13 matches. These 13 matches will be played in two host countries, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Asia Cup 2023 Final
The 2023 Asia Cup Final will be the final of the 2023 Asia Cup, a One Day International cricket tournament, and will be played on 17 September 2023 in R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.
Asia Cup 2023 Schedule
The tournament will be a 50-over ODI tournament, with all matches played at international standard venues. The 2023 Edition will feature two groups, with two teams from each group qualifying for the Super Four stage. The top two teams from the Super Four stage will then face off in the final.
The Asia Cup 2023 will commence in Multan with an opening match between Pakistan and Nepal. The tournament will feature six teams split into two groups: Group A includes Pakistan, India, and Nepal, while Group B comprises Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka.

Asia Cup Prize Money
Talking about the winners of Asia Cup, India won the inaugural edition in 1984 before Sri Lanka won the second edition. India won the next three editions before Sri Lanka won it for the second time in 1997. Pakistan won their first Asia Cup in 2000. As of now, only India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka have won the continental championship.
India are the most successful side in the history of the competition, having won it seven times (six ODI editions, one T20I edition). On the other hand, Sri Lanka have won it six times (Five ODI editions, one T20I editions) while Pakistan have won the tournament’s ODI editions twice. Sri Lanka are also the defending champions, having defeated Pakistan in the final of the Asia Cup 2022 which was played in T20 format.
The Asian Cricket Council is yet to announce the the Asia Cup 2023 Prize money and is likely to do it very soon. However, one can assume that the prize money will be similar to what the governing body offered in the last edition. Last year, the winners received a grand amount of ₹1,59,53,000 (approx), while the runners up took h take home a cheque of ₹79,66,000.
