FAMOUS ODIA ACTOR PINTU NANDA DIES, career, films, family, LIVER cirrhosis

Odia Cine actor PINTU NANDA died at 11.25PM on 01.03.2023, Wednesday at a private hospital in Hyderabad while undergoing treatment for LIVER cirrhosis. Pintu was waiting for a liver transplantation since many days after his health deteriorates.

Odia cine artist and General Secretary of ODISHA CINE ARTIST ASSOCIATION, Sritam Das informed through a tweet. Pintu was only 47. The Odia cine industry and Odisha lost a great actor and familiar face.

After diagnosed with Liver Cirrhosis is a chronic disease associated with liver, Pintu was first admitted in a private hospital in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India. However as per doctor’s advice he was than airlifted to Delhi for advanced treatment. He was supposed to get a Liver transplantation there at Delhi. In New Delhi’s Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) a liver donor couldn’t be arranged.

As per the rules, one can’t get organs from a living person. Organs can only be harvested from a dead person.

Hence finally he was shifted to the YASHODA HOSPITAL in Hyderabad. Still he did not get a donor there, so the liver transplantation could not be done. A family member was supposed to donate liver to Pintu, but that did not work out due to mismatch of blood group and various other reasons. Finally he took his last breathe on 01.03.2023 at 11.25pm.

The actor received help from his fans and the Ollywood industry when he needed a huge amount of money for a liver transplant. The doctors have estimated an amount of Rs.35-50 Lakhs for his treatment.

CAREER AND PERSONAL LIFE

Pintu came to fame with his Odia album “E GOURA” which gained lot of appreciation and Pintu became popular.

Pintu Nanda’s career in the Odia industry began with telefilms, and he made his acting debut in the 1996 film Koili. Since that time, he has played a crucial role in the Ollywood industry.

Education

The actor completed his studies from S.K. Academy of Jagatsinghpur,Odisha, India. He pursued higher education in Delhi. He is survived by his wife and two sons.

CAREER

He started his movie career in telefilms. He started acting in small roles from the age of 17. At the age of 18, he first appeared in the film ‘Koili’ as the character Nanda in 1996. Some of his popular films include Wrong Number (2022), Prem Rutu Asila (2006), Dosti (2011), Haat Dhari Chalutha (2011) and Rumku Juma (2013).

Pintu Nanda won the hearts of the audience by acting in many films, albums and serials. Pintu’s performance in Byasakabi Fakir Mohan’s story ‘Randi Pua Ananta’, which was aired on Durdarshan, moved thousands of viewers. Later, he acted in more than 40 films including ‘Wrong Number’, And ‘Bahudibe Mo Jagabaliya’. He won the Best Actor Comedy Award for the film ‘Wrong Number’.

The most memorable role of his acting career was in the multilingual film ‘Jai Jagannath’ directed by Sabyasachi Mohapatra. This mythological film was released across India in various regional languages ​​including Odia and became a huge hit. The movie starred Sritam Das as Jagannath, Jyoti Mishra as Mahalakshmi and Pintu Nanda as Balaram.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik took to his Twitter handle to express his grief over the death of actor Pintu Nanda and said, “Deeply shocked to hear about the demise of Odia film industry’s popular actor Pintu Nanda. He has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all cine lovers. I express my condolences to the bereaved family. May the departed soul rest in peace.”

Bharatiya Janata Party Vice President Baijayant Panda took to his Twitter handle to condole the death of actor Pintu Nanda. “Deeply shocked and saddened to hear about the untimely demise of Odisha’s popular actor Pintu Nanda. He will be remembered for ages for his contribution to the Odia film industry. His death is an irreparable loss to the Odia film industry. My deepest condolences to the bereaved family. I pray that may his soul rest in peace. Om Shanti,” read the Tweet in Odia.

Chhattisgarh Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan took to his Twitter handle to mourn the death of Odia actor Pintu Nanda. In a series of Odia tweets, he said he was deeply shocked to hear about the untimely death of Pintu Nanda. The Governor has prayed to God to rest his soul in peace and expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family.

“The actor’s body will reach Bhubaneswar today evening. His last rites will most probably be performed tomorrow at Swargadwara in Puri,” said Sritam Das, General Secretary of Cine Artistes Association.
