IPL 2023 Winner: On Monday, 29th May’2023, the final match of the 16th edition of the Indian premiere league was played between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans at Ahmedabad. Chennai Super Kings beat Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets to hold the trophy for the 5th times. With the win, CSK have equalled Mumbai Indians’ (MI) record for winning the most titles in the history of the IPL.

A total of 74 matches were played between 10 teams. Due to rain, the match had to be moved to the next day 29th May’23. Requiring 10 off the last two balls to reach the revised target of 171 in 15 overs, Ravindra Jadeja hit Mohit Sharma for a six and a four to script a thrilling triumph.

Earlier, a passing shower interrupted the match between the two teams and the second innings had to be reduced to 15 overs giving Chennai 171 to chase. In the first innings, Sai Sudharsan (96) narrowly missed out on his century as Gujarat Titans posted 214/4, the highest-ever score in an IPL final, against the Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Wriddhiman Saha gave him apt support with his own half century.
Hardik Pandya commanded the Gujarat Titans, having successfully led the team to its maiden IPL title in 2022. Living-legend MS Dhoni again helmed the captaincy of Chennai Super Kings and managed to secure the final spot a record 10th time. He has played an overall 11 finals in the Indian Premier League.
1 – CSK’s Devon Conway was named the Player of the Match for his blistering knock of 47 off 25 balls in the IPL 2023 final.
2 – Shubman Gill, who played an entertaining knock of 39 off 20 balls, was named the Player of the Tournament also the Orange Cap winner.

Runners-up Gujarat Titans were awarded prize money of INR 12.5 crore while Dhoni’s CSK side received the winner’s cheque of INR 20 crore after a stellar season.
